Neurovascular Care

The Mothers Center Neurovascular Clinic

Pregnancy and the postpartum period are a time of special risk for cerebrovascular complications, including stroke. In addition, women with a history of cerebrovascular disease have many concerns related to pregnancy. For pregnant and postpartum women with cerebrovascular disease of all types, we offer coordinated multidisciplinary care through the Mothers Center Neurovascular Clinic.

The Mothers Center Neurovascular Clinic treats pregnant and postpartum women with neurovascular conditions including:

  • Stroke
  • TIA (“mini-stroke”)
  • Intracranial hemorrhage
  • Cerebral aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations
  • Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis
  • Carotid or vertebral artery dissection
  • Fibromuscular dysplasia
  • Moyamoya disease

In collaboration with the Maternal-Fetal Medicine team, we also help to manage neurological complications of preeclampsia such as severe headache, reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS) or posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES). We are also available for preconception counseling visits for women with a history of any of these conditions.

The Mothers Center Neurovascular Clinic is led by Dr. Eliza Miller, a board certified Vascular Neurologist with expertise in maternal cerebrovascular complications.
