Dr. Dara Matseoane-Peterssen honored with teaching award

Dara Matseoane-Peterssen, MD, Chief of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian/The Allen Hospital, was recently honored with the Charles W. Bohmfalk Award for Clinical Years. The award recognizes Dr. Matseoane-Peterssen’s distinguished contributions to teaching.

Dr. Matseoane-Peterssen is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at CUIMC. She is also the director of the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons clerkship in obstetrics and gynecology and uses clinical teaching, didactics, and simulation to enhance student learning and prepare medical students to address the healthcare needs of the women in their practices.

This award was established through the generosity of John Frederick and Alice Bohmfalk, in memory of Dr. Charles W. Bohmfalk, P&S Class of 1884.

The award was presented at the Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons Graduation Ceremony on May 22, 2019. The ceremony, which honored the 172 students receiving medical degrees from VP&S and 60 students who received biomedical degrees from Columbia’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, took place in the Armory in Washington Heights.
