Specialty-Wide Standards for Ob/Gyn Residency Application and Interview
The Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) have established specialty-wide standards for the 2026–2027 Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Application Cycle. These recommendations are informed by data collected over recent application cycles, discussions at CREOG retreats and APGO meetings, feedback from applicants and program directors, and the work of the Right Resident, Right Program, Ready Day One (RRR) initiative.
The Columbia University Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program supports these recommendations and will adhere to the following standards:
- The final application deadline will be September 17, 2026
- We will follow a common release of interview invitations on October 27, 2026
- We have always limited interview invitations to the number of interview slots available within our program
- Applicants will have a minimum of 48 hours to accept interview offers
- Applicants will be informed of their final status by November 25, 2026 (interviews, waitlists, or rejections)
Application
Applicants may begin submitting applications to our program on September 2, 2026. We will accept applications through ResidencyCas until September 27, 2026.
To be considered for an interview, all application materials must be complete and submitted through ResidencyCAS. Required materials include:
- A completed ResidencyCAS application
- Official USMLE and/or COMLEX transcripts
- Official medical school transcript
- At least three letters of recommendation from faculty members familiar with the applicant's clinical performance. We accept Standardized Letters of Evaluation (SLOEs); however, they are not required, and applicants without a SLOE will receive full consideration.
- Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE/Dean's Letter)
Please note that we do not accept paper or hard-copy application materials.
