The Vink lab studies the biochemical changes that occur in normal and abnormal cervical remodeling states during pregnancy. Our goal is to determine why some cervices fail during pregnancy leading to spontaneous preterm birth. The knowledge obtained from our research will ultimately be used to develop novel, safe, and effective interventions to prevent spontaneous preterm birth and the complications of prematurity.
