Overview
Dr. Alexander K. Ulfers is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University and New York- Presbyterian Allen Hospital. An academic generalist, he provides comprehensive women’s health care across the spectrum of patients health needs. A native of Cedar Falls, IA, Dr. Ulfers holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and religion from Luther College and completed medical school at A. T. Still University- Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway serving as administrative chief resident. Following graduation, Dr. Ulfers served in the United States Air Force providing care to women at Yokota Air Base in Tokyo, Japan and subsequently at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
A passionate advocate for providing care to women in underserved communities, Dr. Ulfers holds a special interest in resident and medical student education and has published broadly across the specialty. He provides compassionate care throughout patients’ lives with a focus on prevention. He remains active in multiple medical societies and seeks to provide compassionate, tailored care to patients' individual needs.
