Overview
Alexander Friedman, MD, MPH is a maternal-fetal medicine specialist. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Brown University/Women and Infants' Hospital and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. His clinical work includes outpatient consultative maternal-fetal medicine and prenatal diagnosis as well as inpatient obstetrical clinical care including labor floor coverage.
Dr. Friedman has published more than 100 peer-reviewed research manuscripts focusing on clinical obstetrics, perinatal epidemiology, comparative effectiveness, and maternal outcomes. He has received funding from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau. Areas of research interest include adverse maternal outcomes, obstetric thromboembolism, care quality, risk prediction, trends in clinical practice, and maternal racial disparities. Dr. Friedman is an editor at the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
